Zodiacs Easy to launch and land, 'Clipper Odyssey's' fleet of Zodiac auxiliary craft takes you to remote shores where there are no piers or docking facilities. Discovering the underwater world 'Clipper Odyssey' offers snorkeling and scuba diving for all skill levels on all South Pacific voyages (excluding New Zealand). This is an excellent opportunity to explore some of the world's most remote and pristine aquatic environments. Passengers who prefer to remain dry can view the undersea world from the comfortable perspective of a custom-built, glassbottom excursion boat. (Use of the glassbottom boat is at the discretion of the captain and expedition leader and is subject to weather and water conditions.)

Travelling in comfort Staterooms are spacious and comfortable with an outside view (some have a walkout balcony), private bathroom and closed circuit TV. Beds can be configured as two twins or one queen. After your daily adventures, relax in one of the lounges, work out in the fitness room or pamper yourself with a massage.

Bridge visits If you've ever wondered what is entered into a ship's log, or whether mariners still use a sextant, find out firsthand. Schedule a time to visit the bridge and a meeting with a ship's officer, who provides insight into the science of navigation and the operation of a large ship.

Meet the expert staff of 'Clipper Odyssey' who may join you on your voyage:

Expedition Leader Cheli Larsen has been expedition leader on voyages aboard 'Clipper Odyssey' and other ships, travelling extensively throughout Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the South Pacific. Cheli spent three years in the Great Barrier Reef conducting marine turtle research. her studies on the orca whale led to her involvement with BBC's The Blue Planet and as a field assistant with TVNZ Natural History Unit while filming the Discovery Channel's orca documentary Killers I Have Known.

Assistant Expedition Leader Marcia Meagher, an Australian who lives in New Zealand, has escorted travellers all over the world, including throughout the Russian Far East and Alaska. Before she entered the travel industry, Marcia was a teacher specializing in cultural exchange programs. Her passion for travel and exploring remote and adventurous destinations evolved from spending a decade in the Canadian Rockies.

Shirley Campbell is an anthropologist specializing in the indigenous peoples of Australia and Papua New Guinea. Shirley's degree in anthropology led her to a specialty in the anthropology of art, a belief that one can gain cultural insight through interpretation of art. As part of her doctoral research, Shirley lived in a village of 300 people on the remote Trobriand Islands, speaking only the local language.

Catherine Duthie is a native New Zealander and a PhD candidate at Victoria University in Wellington, investigating the impact of invasive species in southern beech forests in the Nelson Lakes National Park. Her previous research focused on a variety of different habitats, from coastal insect communities to high altitude alpine plant communities.

Edmundo Edwards has 40 years of experience in the South Pacific, carrying out extensive archaeological and ethnographic research in the Marquesas, Society and Austral Islands of French Polynesia. An expert on Easter Island and eastern Polynesian history and culture, Edmundo has lectured in several countries and at more than 30 universities and museums.

Ralph Eshelman, who received his PhD from the University of Michigan, is a research associate in the Department of Paleobiology at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, and runs a cultural resource management consultancy firm. Ralph is widely published in history, maritime history, geology and paleontology and has lectured on these topics as well.

Thomas Hatfield is a senior research fellow at the Center for American History and director of the Institute for Studies in American Military History at the University of Texas. A national media consultant and writer, Tom has walked the beaches of island fighting from Guadalcanal to Tarawa to Pelelieu and dove down to the sunken Japanese fleet on the bottom of the Truk Lagoon.

John Lenanton was born and raised in England and obtained his master's degree from the University of California at Davis. For the past 35 years he has taught plant sciences and is a full professor. John has travelled extensively with an emphasis on the South Pacific and hosted a PBS television series on plant-related topics.

Brent Stephenson has been a birder since childhood and recently completed his PhD. In 2003 he rediscovered the "extinct" New Zealand storm petrel with his business partner and today leads a team conducting research on this enigmatic seabird. His photography has been published in international books and magazines.

Pepper Trail is an ornithologist, conservationist, photographer and writer. He has been watching birds since his youth in upstate New York. Since then Pepper, who received a PhD in Ornithology, has studied birds around the world, from the jungles of South America to "bird islands" of the Arctic to the coral atolls and high islands of Polynesia.

Laura Warman has a master's in conservation biology and is doing doctoral research on rainforest vegetation in Queensland, Australia. Laura is fascinated by the contrasts between vegetation in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and plants' interaction with the environment.

Charley Wheatley is a marine biologist, oceanographer, research diver and photographer. Charley has worked as a marine naturalist with the Scripps Aquarium and as a teacher of oceanography and environmental sciences in San Diego. Since 1987 he has participated in more than 180 sea voyages across the globe.

Carol Walton has been leading natural history trips for nearly 30 years. She spent her childhood in Panama, where she gained an appreciation for the incredible diversity of life in a tropical rainforest. She earned a bachelor's degree in zoology and a doctorate in veterinary medicine, complementing her interest in the biological world.
